7 A final word

The world appears to be in turmoil. And our country appears to be headed toward financial and moral bankruptcy. What is to be done?

For faithful Latter-day Saints the answers came in this past weekend's general conference. As Elder Neil L. Andersen, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, affirmed in the closing moments of the conference, the Lord had orchestrated from the unassigned individual talks a spiritual symphony that resulted in a miraculous revelation of His mind and will to the Saints. The voice of the Lord to His people is that safety lies in such simple things as strengthening our families, teaching our children, keeping the commandments, and doing our duty.

Individual disappointments and afflictions will come to each of us personally—such is the nature of mortality—but there is no need to fear the future if our hope in the Savior is steadfast and our faith in Him is sure.

As was quoted during the conference, "Remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall" (Helaman 5:12).
