Gas prices climbing higher
According to an Associated Press story, gasoline prices are ready to climb higher again. A surge in wholesale gasoline prices should push pump prices to an 18-month high and put drivers in many parts of the country on the cusp of having to pay $3 per gallon for gasoline. The nationwide average was $2.854 per gallon on Monday, according to AAA.
Epidemic of twisters
According to USA Today, a tornado outbreak over the past four days that killed at least 10 people in Mississippi put an end to what had been an unusually quiet year for severe storms and tornadoes. From Thursday through Saturday, there were 126 reports of tornadoes in the central and southern U.S.
Temple open houses
The public open house for the new Vancouver British Columbia Temple, the 131st in the Church, concluded on Saturday. The temple will be dedicated this coming Sunday, May 2.
The Gila Valley Arizona Temple open house began last Friday and will run daily, except Sundays, through Saturday, May 15. The temple will be dedicated in three sessions on Sunday, May 23.
The Kyiv Ukraine Temple, the first in eastern Europe, will be open to the public from Saturday, August 7, through Saturday, August 21. The temple will be dedicated on Sunday, August 29. This temple will serve 31,000 members of the Church in 13 different countries.
Nineteen other temples have been announced or are under construction.
