6 What in the world

Apostle dies
Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin died peacefully in his sleep on Monday evening, December 1, from causes incident to age. He had been a member of the Quorum of the Twelve since 1986. At age 91, he was the oldest living General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His funeral was held in the Salt Lake Tabernacle on Friday, December 5. Here we go a-bowling
The University of Utah will play against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl on Friday evening, January 2, in New Orleans. Four years ago, Utah became the first non-BCS school to reach a major bowl since the format was created in 1998. Now the undefeated Utes have done it again. Alabama goes into the game with one loss.

Boise State, also undefeated, will meet TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego on Tuesday evening, December 23, the only bowl game scheduled for that day.

BYU will meet Arizona in the Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday, December 20. It will be the Cougars' fourth straight appearance in the Las Vegas Bowl.
