Lyle's family
Lyle sent us the copy of Sybil's funeral program that appears earlier in this newsletter. He said that Gene and Cheryl, LaWanda, and he were the only ones who attended the funeral from our family.
Lyle was planning to leave Tuesday for Washington to visit his family up there.
Gail's family
Angie sent us a recent update on her branch of the family:
- Lynda is now on Facebook.
- Debbie and Airkia are doing well.
- No news on Jeff and Liz.
- Craig and Kris are doing well, and Kyle is doing very well on his mission in Guatemala.
- Bill and Kelly bought a house this past winter in Santa Clara, Utah. Bill likes the area, and Kelly's Home Depot store is doing very well.
- As for Angie's family, she said Dick is doing very well. He has been 180+ days without smoking. They are all very proud of him.
- Mandy's family is doing well.
-Lynda is expecting three more grandchildren this summer: Josh and Veronica a girl in July, Michelle and Dustin a girl in August, and John and Morgan as-of-yet-unknown in September.
- Michelle's little Melanie broke her foot the Saturday before last. She has a cast for three weeks. Dustin has been traveling a lot with Hasting's, and they may be moving (she hopes not).
- Michelle and Angie took a day trip to San Francisco, and Lynda and Angie took a day trip to St. George the week before. Angie is really loving her job.

5 Our family 50 years ago
Excerpts from the April 1960 diary of Dorothy Batt Cleverly (1915–1982). The full text of her diary can be found online at Dorothy's Idaho Diaries and is updated daily, exactly 50 years to the day after it was originally written. The family at the time lived on a 40-acre farm in the Deer Flat area south of Nampa, Idaho.
Wed, Apr 6. got letter from Kay. Kay is comeing home for week end.
Thurs, Apr 7. Ivard is 45 today. He got card from Jerry. Dean, Dale & I went to town & got Ivards birthday presents & got Dean & Dale some ball hats.
Fri, Apr 8. Kay came home. he droved down from Rexburg with 5 other Kids for week end. Kay went over & got Claudia & went to Gails. Gene went to Boise to play Borah & got beat.
Sat, Apr 9. Kay & Gene went in to high school & watched Ricks at college track meet. they came home at 4:30. Kay got ready & went over & took Claudia to show. Gail & Lynda came & stayed until 9:
Sun, Apr 10. Kay & Gene had gone over to Owyhee to priesthood & sunday school. Ivard & Ray went to priesthood. me & Kids went to sunday school. Came home & Kay, Gene & Claudia were here. I got dinner, fried chicken & fixed salad & cooked asparagus & made gravy. Claudia helped Ray make a Germans choclate cake. Kay came home & packed & at 9:45 Ivard took him in to bus depot to meet kids to go back to school.
Mon, Apr 11. relief society teachers came at 10:30. We went to Idaho Income tax place to file & he said I had to get an accountant to do the sale of place. We went all over hunting one & they were all too busy. finally got Mr. Caldwell, he says its a mess but he'll try to do it by Friday.
Tues, Apr 12. I got some more information for guy to fix Income tax & at 10:15 I took it in to him. I went to relief society after seeing lawyer. At 7: Ivard & Ray went in to high school to a meeting for freshmen.

Another earthquake
A 7.2-magnitude earthquake hit in northern Mexico just south of California on Easter Sunday. It was felt across parts of there states: California, Nevada, and Arizona.
General conference changes
A new Primary general presidency was sustained in general conference this past weekend. Sisters Rosemary M. Wixom, Jean A. Stevens, and Cheryl A. Esplin were sustained to replace the previous presidency (Sisters Cheryl C. Lant, Margaret S. Lifferth, and Vicki F. Matsumori).
Called as General Authorities to serve in the First Quorum of the Seventy are Elder Kevin R. Duncan, Washington, Utah; Elder Gerrit W. Gong, Provo, Utah; Elder Patrick Kearon, Somerset, England and Elder Juan A. Uceda, Clifton, New Jersey.
Called as General Authorities to serve in the Second Quorum of the Seventy are Elder Larry R. Lawrence, Clovis, California; Elder Per G. Malm, Göteborg, Sweden and Elder Jairo Mazzagardi, Vinhedo, Brazil.

7 A final word
The world appears to be in turmoil. And our country appears to be headed toward financial and moral bankruptcy. What is to be done?
For faithful Latter-day Saints the answers came in this past weekend's general conference. As Elder Neil L. Andersen, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, affirmed in the closing moments of the conference, the Lord had orchestrated from the unassigned individual talks a spiritual symphony that resulted in a miraculous revelation of His mind and will to the Saints. The voice of the Lord to His people is that safety lies in such simple things as strengthening our families, teaching our children, keeping the commandments, and doing our duty.
Individual disappointments and afflictions will come to each of us personally—such is the nature of mortality—but there is no need to fear the future if our hope in the Savior is steadfast and our faith in Him is sure.
As was quoted during the conference, "Remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall" (Helaman 5:12).
