A busy summer for London
Queen Elizabeth's diamond jubilee is occurring this year, marking 60 years of the queen's reign. She came to the throne on February 6, 1952 (her coronation took place on June 2, 1953). The official website of the British monarchy calls the coming few days (June 2 through 5) "the Diamond Jubilee central weekend." The queen turned 86 on April 21 of this year.London this year will also be hosting the XXX Olympic summer games beginning July 27 and running through August 12.
