1 Getting ready for Halloween

Halloween is a favorite time of year for children (and for the many grownups who are still children at heart). The enchanted day isn't until this coming Friday, but we sample here some of the Halloween previews showing up on family blogs.

These first two pictures were posted by Shandi (Lyle's granddaughter). The first shows her daughter Shanel in the pumpkin patch. The second shows Sariah in a kandy korn witch costume, Shanel as the cutest little tulip fairy, and Seaira as a honey bee.



The next picture was posted by Melissa (Kay's daughter-in-law) and shows Mckenna as Belle, Danielle as Little Red Riding Hood, Aleaya as Rupunzel, and Talia as Snow White.


Nicolle (Kay's daughter) posted this collection of pictures showing Chad and Gretchen in a Pumpkin Walk. Easton wouldn't cooperate whenever Nicolle tried to take his picture, so there are none of him.


Andrea (Kay's daughter) posted several pictures of her kids in their Halloween costumes. These two were particularly cute. They're such party animals.

Camilla (our daughter) posted this adorable picture of Pirate Sam.


And one final shot in the pumpkin patch. This one posted by Rachael (our daughter) of her three girls: Margaret, Esther, and Claudia Sue.

4 Bits and tidbits

√ Kay's granddaughter Noelle McAllister was baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday, October 11. Her dad, Chuck, baptized and confirmed her. Click here to check out details and pictures of the happy event.

Her mom, Andrea, wrote, "I am very proud of Noelle she has been so excited to become a member. I have enjoyed watching her get ready for this important day. She was very prepared to make this decision. I know that she has a strong testimony of her Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ. I love how simple and pure her love and understanding of the gospel is."

√ A month earlier, on Saturday, September 6, Kay's grandson Stockton was also baptized and confirmed. Stockton is Kyle and Melissa's youngest son. He was baptized by his older brother, Austin, who is a priest. Kay and Karen, who were still stuck at the Provo MTC awaiting their visas to Peru, rented a car and drove up to Layton for the baptism.

√ A bit of out-of-state traveling going on in Claudia's and my family: Michael spent the week of October 19-24 in Virginia at a computer-related seminar, Cade and Rebecca spent the week of October 19-26 in Hawaii at a real estate seminar and vacation, and Robert spent the weekend of October 17-20 in Arizona doing some medical-related professional development.

√ Kay advised us that his daughter-in-law Celeste (Rhett's wife) had her mother pass away this past week. Kay wrote, "On Monday [October 20] late afternoon, early evening Celeste's mother was alone in her car up by Bear Lake and had heart failure. She drove off the road but did not hit anyone. She died right there in her car. Celeste has now lost her mother and only two brothers that she had. This is about all that I know." Our condolences to Celeste.

√ Lyle's son Randy advised us that his father- and mother-in-law (Valerie's parents), Jay and Maria Fuhriman, have been called to serve three years in the Ecuador Guayaquil Temple. Jay will serve as second counselor in the temple presidency and Maria will serve as assistant matron. Randy wrote, "they just returned home about 2 months ago from serving 2 years in the Monterrey Mexico Temple. They said that the Church has a great need for couples to serve as missionaries and they want to serve while they still have their health and the financial means to do so."
